28 Days of Love - Day 6

Day 6:

Remembering how much Christ loves me.

... so much that He sent His only Son to die on a cruel cross for MY sins. This morning in church, as is our custom once a month, we remembered through the taking of the Lord's Table, or Communion. As always, I am deeply moved and overwhelmed by His grace and love towards me.

Below is one of my favorite communion hymns, by Keith and Kristyn Getty. Please listen to it and listen to the words.

Hi Miriam, I am curious about the weekly partaking of the wine and bread. We observe this occasion annually, as Jesus instituted it. I was wondering why it's done weekly at your church. Thanks! Candi :)

@Candi Thank you for asking! Actually our church partakes of the Lord's Supper monthly. I don't think there is any specific reason they do it monthly except to just do it regularly. For me personally, it is so easy to forget, and this helps me remember. I have attended churches who did it annually and bi-annually. Below I've copied and pasted from our church's website where our church bases it's beliefs on the Lord's Supper.

"We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances of the church and that they are the scriptural means of testimony for the church in this age. ...
We believe that the Lord's Supper is a commemoration of His death until He comes and is to be celebrated at certain intervals by all the members of the church. (See Matthew 3:13-17 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.) "
