The Hardwood Floor Saga III

Daniel and a friend of his laid a good deal of the living room part Saturday morning/afternoon.
The hallway to the bedrooms and bathroom. Daniel is finishing up outside the bathroom right now as I type.
Isn't it BEAUTIFUL!!??

This afternoon when another friend came to help Daniel, they moved the living room furniture back into place -mostly. It is still on carpet pieces, but in it's place. Then when the company came, Daniel and Dave moved the table from the kitchen into the dining room!! I wish I had a picture, but I didn't think to take one before I started blogging. It was so fun to eat in the dining room! That was the first time to eat in the dining room since we've been here, almost 4 years.
There is still plenty of work to be done - the baseboard needs replaced with something that will come down the meet the floor (the carpet was thicker than the hardwood, and it ended up being too much of a space to do what Daniel had thought would work), the dining room still needs painted and trimmed (I've finally got colors picked out!), and other detail work needs done in the kitchen and laundry/pantry room. So, we're not done, but so much closer!!

I hope you've enjoyed your "tour" :) I LOOOOOVE the floor!!!

That is gorgeous!!
We've been in our home for4 yrs now and been remodeling it the whole time, kinda makes things rough to live in it and remodel! Can't wait for my hardwood to be down..

Phoebe - that's cool! We've been here almost 4 years, too, and have never "lived" in the whole house yet because something was always in the process of being remodelled. I can't wait for the dining room to be finished so we can move the china hutch out of the spare room and put all the stuff piled in boxes in it that belongs in it! Hopefully we'll have our spare bedroom to "live in" this year yet!

from Aliisa:

Miriam, the floors are beautiful!! I have floors very similar to that in my house and I love them!! I will NEVER go back to carpet again. BTW...they sell these quarter round pieces that match your flooring, you just put them down and they hide that gap between the floors and the baseboards. Dont worry about how they look because they blend in and look nice. So you mentioned you picked out your colors...so what are they?

We have been in our house for about 1 1/2 years now and we have slowly been getting it the way we want with new floors, paint, appliances etc. We still have 2 bathrooms to do...ugh. But I had a great time picking out colors and doing all the painting myself. I will post some pics for you to see on my blog.

congratulations again on your floors...enjoy them!!

Aliisa, Daniel had planned to use quarter-round, but the gap turned out to be to "tall". We'll have to look around and see if we can find some quarter round to fit, or what might work best. Lucky you! LOL, we have ONE bathroom :P Thankfully it's in pretty decent shape so we haven't felt like it's high on the list of stuff to redo.

This does not even look like it could be the same room pictured below. What a difference it makes!

Miriam, The floors are beautiful!
Tell Dan he did a wonderful job!
I know what kind of work it is, after watching Marlin many times. The arrangement of the different colors in the pieces of wood look great!
I hope to see them sometime.
Enjoy them!!

Wow! Your floors are gorgeous. Joshua refinished the office floor shortly before we moved and something about the feel of having done it yourself makes it even more beautiful, I think. Good job!
