Tackling the Laundry Room - Before

Somehow I am just into a cleaning spurt - ever get those? I've spent a mass amount of time in the "office"... it doesn't look like it, but one of the "piles" is a little more a hill than a mountain.

This afternoon I decided that since we are having company over on Saturday that I should tackle some more visible places... like the dryer which has been a major catchall over the past couple months.

Unfortunately this is NOT the "before" picture... this is about 1/2 done.
This is the "laundry shelf"... also another famous catch-all that I hope to at least make a dent in today.
And goodness knows you can't clean without a very big, empty trash can!!

We'll see if I get finished and post "After" pictures!! :P
And the prize goes to anyone noticing that Daniel painted AROUND the stuff on the shelf!!!!!!!!!
Ok... so there really isn't a prize. And we DO have plans to finish painting - it's one of those "minor" projects that got put on the back burner until the "major" projects were finished.

From Aliisa:

The paint around the shelf just made me laugh...it was cute though. Dont feel bad, my laundry room and on top of my dryer is a catch all too. It gets cleaned only when Im in those cleaning moods!!

btw...I found a recipe for homemade dishwasher detergent if you are interested. Im going to post it on my blog later. I havent had a chance to try it but it wont be long since Im close to running out.

OH MY GOODNESS! Your DH!!! The paint is hilarious! I laugh because in my hallway there is a light and I painted probably 2 years ago and missed a spot! It's still there!!! LOL Love it!! LOL

Good luck w/your clean up/decluttering. I never know where to start. I need to work on my front closet.

Hugs,
Angie

I wish I was in a cleaning mode. I am still trying to get past recovery mode from the weekend. I have been dragging like a rock all week and barely getting the cooking and laundry done. I hope to be feeling better soon.

Hey, glad you're into the cleaning though. I love getting things done and I know you will too.

From Sundy:

I am LOL'ing in complete empathy! :) I, too, am a "mood-cleaner." Sometimes, if I just cannot get into the right mood, I play music -- loudly. I try to pick whatever music boosted my energy in my 20's and 30's. Since I am now firmly in my 40's, I need that little mental jolt to get my body physically moving. ;)

Hey, guess what Miriam? I made myself clean the bathroom tonight after Paul went to bed even though I didn't feel like it. It was turning bad colors and smelling even worse. It is much better now after a good half hour of serious attention.

And, I hauled my old dishes to the thrift store today, and my unused medical supplies to a place that can use them (leftovers from my home IV). So, I may not be doing something real big, but it was a few little pieces. Here, let's have some cho. cake to celebrate! Hahaha!

OK clean freaks! Just to let you know I do clean once in a while; not that it looks or smells like it around here. I am truly embarrassed to let anyone in our house. I got up and cleaned the bathroom at 4am Mon. becauseI couldn't handle it anymore and I swept and mopped the kitchen after class at 10:30pm Mon. That is the extent of my cleaning since the middle of Aug. I will try to hit those spots one or two more times this semester.

Oh my, Rachel! I should have whipped down there and cleaned it for you sometime. Glad you got it done and hopefully are in a better psychological state!

Thanks for the inspiration! I totally need to do this! It's high up on the list, but somehow I keep avoiding it!
I'm tagging you in tomorrow night's post! Just wanted to give you a head's up!
So glad you enjoyed the pasta! The photo of my "soupy" tortellini definitely didn't show the real deal. I let it cook down a little more and the end result was perfect creaminess! It's a great and delicious sauce for any pasta!-Erin
